Top Performing Schools of Medical Technology 2011-2014


#10 University of San Agustin (Iloilo City) is the first University in Western Visayas established in 1904 (previously known as Colegio de San Agustin) and is now currently celebrating its 110th anniversary. The College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology is accredited Level II by PAASCU (until Nov 2014) and its product Ms. Erika Jiline Jamandre placed 1st in the March 2014 licensure examination for medical technologists among its many topnotchers.  (please refer to their website for further information - www.usa.edu.ph)
#9 San Pedro College (Davao City) is originally a school of nursing but has now expanded to numerous undergraduate and graduate programs. The College of Medical Laboratory Science enjoys Level I accreditation from PAASCU (until Nov 2015) and Ms. Gelyn Ty landed top 3 as well as top 9 Cheryl Julie Argent last September 2011 licensure exams (among many other previous topnotchers).  (www.spcdavao.edu.ph)
#8 University of Santo Tomas (Manila) is undoubtedly in the Ivy League Universities worldwide owing to its more than 400 years of existence and always has the most number of graduates to take the board exams. The program is included in the Faculty of Pharmacy and is Level III-Reaccredited by PACU-COA (until Dec 2014). Ms. Kim Abbegail Aldecoa landed as top 2 in the August 2013 board exams among its many other topnotchers (www.ust.edu.ph)
#7 University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (Bacolod City) is the best and first university in the province of Negros Occidental. The medical technology program is offered by its College of Arts and Sciences and has been awarded Level II accreditation from PAASCU (until May 2015).  Mr. Michael John Mondragon was its top 7 during the September 2011 licensure exams among other topnotchers. #6 University of the Philippines – Manila (Manila) actually offers Bachelor of Science in Public Health and by virtue of RA 5527, its graduates can sit in the licensure examinations for medical technologists even if they don’t follow the same curriculum.  The College of Public Health is designated as the Regional Center for Public Health (one of 4) by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization in Tropical Medicine (SEAMEO-TROPMED) in 1965 and is a WHO Collaborating Center.
#5 Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation (Quezon City) is one of the oldest schools offering medical technology and is now on its 50th founding anniversary. Its program enjoys Level II-Reaccredited Status (February 2010-2015) from PACU-COA. Ms. Kathlene Joy Labrador garnered top 8 last March 2012 licensure examinations among others as well. #4 Cebu Doctors University (Cebu City) has one of the grandest buildings in the Central Visayas region and a fairly new entrant to medical technology offering its course in 1982. This program boasts a Level II accreditation from PAASCU until May 2019. It has produced numerous topnotchers most notable are top 1 Isabelle Baisac from September 2011 and top 2 Ms Rayna Abedan last March 2011. (www.cebudoctorsuniveristy.edu)
#3 Adventist University of the Philippines (Silang, Cavite) is the oldest university that offered the Medical Technology course when it was previously known as Philippine Union College and has now applied for candidate status with PAASCU. They dominated the board examinations particularly during the March 2013 examinations for top spots with the following graduates and their ranks – Ms. Gladys April Catibog (#1), Becky Dawn Chaves (#2), Jonathan Macatiag IV (#4) and Gershon Mark Cortez (#8). #2 Velez College (Cebu City) is a well-known institution in the heart of Cebu City. Its Medical Technology program has been granted  by PAASCU with a Level I accreditation status (as per college website, PAASCU website does not reflect such). Among its numerous topnotchers are the most notable are back to back number 1s Mr. Vincent Edouard Anthony Gullas (March 2012) and Mr. Matthew Joseph Po (September 2012). #1 Saint Louis University (Baguio City) is deemed the Beacon of the North which celebrated its 100th founding anniversary last 2011 and located in the refreshing highlands. The program is offered by the School of Natural Sciences and enjoys Level III status from PAASCU (until November 2016). Many of its graduates usually garner top spots in the board exams the most recent of which are Mr. Roy Christopher Ang (#3) last September 2012 as well as powerhouses for March 2013  Ms. Maria Kristina Ibarra (#3) and Patrice Melody Contreras (#7). #1 Cagayan State University (Tuguegarao City) is one of best performing state universities among many disciplines including medical technology. Its undergraduate program has just been opened in 1999 and has now candidate status with the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACUP) until August 2015. Among its many recent topnotchers is top 9 Jervis Salvador last September 2012.
